The Weinberg Institute for Cognitive Science in the College of Literature, Science and Arts at the University of Michigan is accepting applications, seeking to fill one LEO Lecturer I position to teach three (3) discussion sections of COGSCI 200 for the Fall 2026 term. The Fall appointment would be from August 25, 2026 to December 31, 2026. The appointment effort is 50% for the three (3) sections. This effort is benefit-eligible for the term. Depending on instructional needs, the selected candidate may have the appointment renewed for a second year.
Duties of this position include leading discussion sections for COGSCI 200, working closely with lead instructors to develop materials using the online course management system, evaluating and grading students, holding regularly scheduled office hours, and handling routine matters related to instruction.
Must have an M.A. or PhD in cognitive science or a closely related discipline (Psychology, Linguistics, Philosophy, Artificial Intelligence) and demonstrated experience teaching at the college level. Applications will be evaluated based upon each candidates expertise, successful performance in the classroom, and the needs of the unit.
Lecturer Compensation: 50% for the Fall 2026 term.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
