The Weinberg Institute for Cognitive Science at The University of Michigan invites applications from creative, highly qualified and motivated researchers for a two-year postdoctoral position. The position is primarily a research appointment, but also involves annually co-teaching a cognitive science graduate or undergraduate seminar with a UM faculty member, or the instruction of one Cognitive Science course. The desired start date of the appointment is September 2023, but this is negotiable.
We welcome applications working in all areas of cognitive science spanning linguistics, philosophy, psychology, neuroscience, and related fields such as computer science / AI and psychiatry.
The Weinberg Institute seeks applicants willing to collaboratively and innovatively contribute to the developing Institute, the mission of which is to create a world class center for cognitive science research and teaching, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Applications should include a cover letter, a CV, a research statement (not more than 2 pages), a one page teaching statement and contact information for 3 references. Research statements should specify how the applicant’s research will integrate with and benefit from ongoing cognitive science research conducted at The University of Michigan. For example, the research statements could make ties to the interests of faculty from the Departments of Linguistics, Psychology, Philosophy, Computer Science and Engineering and/or The Neuroscience PhD Program, or related departments and units. Please combine all application materials (in the order above) into one PDF to submit through the UM job application site.
