Job Overview
The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management (CAECM) of the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Cincinnati (UC) invites applications to fill a full-time tenured/tenure track faculty position to support the curriculum and research efforts of the department in the areas of Transportation Engineering and Systems. Rank and tenure will be determined based on the candidate's credentials. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2027. Appointees will be evaluated for reappointment, promotion, and tenure based on criteria established by the CAECM department and CEAS.
The CAECM Department consists of 21 full-time faculty and 3 full-time staff and 2 part-time staff, and houses three accredited undergraduate programs with mandatory co-op: Architectural Engineering (234 students), Civil Engineering (399 students), and Construction Management (412 students). The CAECM Department also houses the Civil Engineering M.Eng. M.S., and Ph.D. graduate programs and the Architectural Engineering M.Eng. program with 85 graduate students. The Department has strong educational and research programs in transportation systems and infrastructure, geotechnical and pavement engineering, building systems, construction management, and structural engineering. Essential Functions
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in area of transportation engineering such as, but not limited to, CVE 2004 Transportation Infrastructure Engineering, CVE 5128 Geometric Design of Infrastructure Facilities, CVE 5124 Transportation Safety, and CVE5108 Transportation Planning. Will also include delivering fundamental, innovative courses in advanced transportation engineering and systems with emerging technologies, including but not limited to AI-related technologies and data-driven transportation applications.
Conduct research and engage in scholarly activities to pursue and secure research funds and establish/maintain a productive publication record.
Advise graduate and undergraduate students.
Participate in academic and professional service activities such as editorial review; student career mentoring; advising of student organizations; serving on departmental, college, and university committees; and performing outreach activities such as recruiting underrepresented students and holding workshops and seminars for industry.
Minimum Requirements
Prior to effective date of the appointment, Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Transportation Engineering and Systems focus) or a closely related field.
