The Senior Project Manager is a key member of the Office of Well-Being team, responsible for leading and executing time-limited, goal-oriented projects. This role is distinguished from the Program Manager position by its focus on discrete initiatives that advance strategic priorities of the Office of Well-Being, rather than ongoing programming.
The Senior Project Manager will promote, expand, and manage these well-being projects across Michigan Medicine, building strong coalitions and enhancing impact to improve workplace well-being. This position plays a significant role in implementing the strategic and operational goals of the Office of Well-Being, stewarding key initiatives, and advancing the work necessary to achieve our mission. The Senior Project Manager works at all levels within the organization to accomplish project deliverables and leverages AI tools and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, communication, and project outcomes.
Project Leadership & Execution
Leads the planning, scoping, and execution of multiple concurrent, time-limited projects of moderate to complex scope, under the guidance of the Senior Director, Well-Being Operations & Strategy.
Develops detailed work plans, project charters, schedules, milestones, and status reports for all assigned initiatives.
Manages project resources, functions, and activities in a timely and coordinated fashion, ensuring alignment with institutional policies, standards, and benchmarks.
Assembles and leads project teams, assigns individual responsibilities, identifies appropriate resources, and develops schedules to ensure timely completion.
Monitors project progress; intervenes as necessary to ensure expectations are met and escalates issues appropriately.
Resolves issues, manages changes, and builds consensus among stakeholders with disparate viewpoints.
Responsible for final project close-out, documentation of outcomes, and transition of sustainable components to operational partners as appropriate.
AI-Enabled Productivity & Innovation
Applies AI tools and automation platforms to streamline routine administrative and project management tasks, reducing manual workload and increasing team capacity.
Utilizes AI-assisted tools for project tracking, status reporting, and progress visualization, ensuring real-time transparency for project stakeholders.
Leverages AI-driven content development tools to create high-quality presentations, briefing documents, reports, and communications for varied audiences, including senior leadership.
Identifies opportunities to introduce emerging AI technologies and digital workflows into Office of Well-Being operations, serving as an internal resource and advocate for technology-enabled efficiency.
Ensures responsible, ethical, and compliant use of AI tools in alignment with Michigan Medicine and University of Michigan policies
Data, Metrics & Evaluation
Develops and utilizes supporting data, analytical tools, benchmarking, metrics, and measurement frameworks to inform progress, impact, and decision-making before, during, and after project completion.
Analyzes and interprets data to evaluate project outcomes and communicate findings to diverse audiences.
Prepares written reports and data visualizations that effectively translate project performance into actionable insights. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
Builds and executes effective communication plans to ensure partners are aware, involved, and engaged throughout project lifecycles.
Communicates effectively with staff, managers, and leaders at all levels within the department and across Michigan Medicine regarding project status and execution.
In partnership with the department's communications liaison, develops and maintains brand marketing materials and communication platforms in alignment with OWB identity standards.
Serves as a liaison and ambassador for leadership and the team, escalating and communicating on behalf of the department.
Prepares written communications and presentations for a variety of audiences, including senior leadership.
Collaborates and builds inclusive relationships with key partners; models respect, recognition, helpfulness, and collaboration.

Works alongside the Program Manager role to ensure seamless coordination between time limited projects and ongoing programs, sharing resources, learnings, and stakeholder relationships.

Performs other duties as directed.
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience. Master's Degree strongly preferred. Health science or health-related field preferred.
3-4 years of progressively responsible project management experience.
Demonstrated ability to apply AI tools to routine task automation, project tracking, and content development (e.g., Notion, Claude, Microsoft Copilot 365, Google Notebook).
Demonstrated proficiency with AI platforms for presentation design, content generation, or workflow automation (e.g., Notion, Claude, Microsoft Copilot 365, Google Notebook).
Proficient in project management tools, processes, and best practices.
Strong and effective communicator in both written and verbal forms.
Flexibility in managing assignments and deadlines; able to prioritize and shift priorities as needed.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with others.
Self-motivated with proactive problem-solving abilities.
High level of emotional intelligence, including the ability to build relationships and influence with a diverse set of individuals in a matrix environment.

Skilled proficiency using MS Office products (SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
PMP certification or equivalent project management credential.
Experience working in a complex, large health system and/or academic medical center.
Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and process improvement methodologies. ? Experience with data analytics programs (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
Knowledge of Michigan Medicine's systems, policies, and procedures.
Familiarity with Michigan Medicine, University of Michigan Medical School, and University of Michigan Medical Group principles, procedures, policies, and standards.
