The University of Michigan College of Pharmacy Collaborative for Indigenous Resources in Care, Learning, and Excellence (UMCOP-CIRCLE) is seeking passionate, community-driven clinical pharmacists to work at tribal health centers (THCs) across Michigan. Although the job post
Michigan’s 12 federally recognized tribes operate THCs that provide comprehensive, culturally grounded ambulatory care, dental services, and preventive health programs that strengthen community wellness. Building on these strong foundations, there are continued opportunities to advance health equity and support positive outcomes for American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities in areas such as diabetes, substance use disorders, and cardiovascular and liver health.
As part of this collaborative initiative, clinical pharmacists will:
Provide direct patient care and collaborate with interprofessional teams to optimize medication therapy and support individual patient health.
Implement culturally informed models of care, tailoring interventions to the unique needs and priorities of each THC.
Advance health equity and clinical excellence by improving access to care, promoting safe and effective medication use, and supporting overall community wellness.
Interested in Joining This Effort?
We anticipate at least two clinical pharmacist positions will be available in 2026, with locations to be determined. Pharmacists will be employed by the individual THC, with additional training, mentorship, and technical support provided by the UMCOP-CIRCLE team as requested.
This is an opportunity to contribute to tribally led, academically supported initiatives that integrate clinical excellence, cultural humility, and community partnership to advance the health and well-being of Michigan’s tribal nations. Make a lasting impact while earning competitive pay, excellent benefits, and potential loan repayment. Learn more or get involved: umcop-circle@umich.edu
Interviews will be conducted in person at PPS on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
Welcome!
Michigan Medicine and The University of Michigan Health (UMH) includes three hospitals, approximately 30 health centers and 120 outpatient clinics, the UM Medical School and its Faculty Group Practice, and the Michigan Health Corp. Located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the Health System maintains the first university-owned hospital in the United States and the oldest College of Pharmacy in a state-supported institution.
The Mission of Michigan Medicine is "To advance health to serve Michigan and the world", and our Vision is that "Our discoveries change care. Our care changes lives." The Department of Pharmacy Services strives to see patients and their families through a number of services and locations. We serve our patients both in the inpatient and outpatient setting. When patients are in the hospital or receiving care at a UMH facility, pharmacists are there working with physicians and nurses to ensure best care. Pharmacists serve as experts in drug therapy and dosing. Pharmacists perform functions like making sure chemotherapy orders are correct and properly dosed, helping patients and physicians with anticoagulation dosing, and dosing for drugs such as antibiotics an...d anticonvulsants. The pharmacy also provides outpatient locations for patients to fill prescriptions. Because of the specialized care that UMH provides, often other community-based pharmacies are not equipped to handle some of the complicated prescriptions that patients receive.
