Trinity Episcopal School seeks a collaborative and innovative Academic Technology Specialist to empower faculty and students by integrating technology into teaching and learning. The ideal candidate will serve as a key partner in supporting the school’s mission, "Discover Your Path," by fostering technology-rich learning environments that inspire curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. This is an 11-month position supporting the Senior Systems administrator and our academic program.
Primary Responsibilities
Faculty & Staff Support:
Collaborate with teachers to design, implement, and evaluate technology-enhanced lessons and activities aligned with curriculum goals.
Offer comprehensive support to faculty in using technology effectively, including: lesson planning, co-teaching, troubleshooting technical issues, and curating relevant digital resources.
Provide hands-on support for faculty & staff integrating instructional tools, digital resources, and AI-based technologies into their teaching practices or work.
Offer workshops, training sessions, and one-on-one coaching for faculty & staff on emerging technologies and best and ethical practices in educational technology.
Provide training on digital safety, cybersecurity best practices, and ethical use of technology for students, faculty and staff.
Responsible for onboarding, training, and troubleshooting technology programs and applications for faculty & staff (Google Classroom, RingCentral, Bitwarden, etc).
Review, organize, and respond to assigned support tickets.
Student Engagement:
Support students in developing digital literacy skills, critical thinking and ethical technology use.
Lead technology orientation for all students with Trinity’s 1 to 1 Macbook program.
Assist with technology-related student projects, offering guidance on tools, platforms and presentation methods.
Serve as a resource for classroom technology troubleshooting and support during lessons.
Participate in our school “TRI” (Technology Research & Innovation) Initiative as the technology leader supporting faculty and students alike.
Teach technology-focused classes each semester. This could include coding, image editing, robotics or other tech-related topics depending on expertise and interest.
Assist or advise student-led technology clubs, robotics teams or other extracurricular programs to promote engagement with technology beyond the classroom.
Technology Strategy & Leadership:
Stay current on trends in instructional technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital learning. Share knowledge and insights with the school community.
Collaborate with the academic leadership team and System Administrator to align technology initiatives with the school’s strategic goals.
CollegeBoard Testing coordinator, PSAT, SAT, AP Testing
Evaluate, recommend and implement new tools and platforms that enhance teaching and learning.
Support the school in leveraging AI tools to enhance both instructional practices and operational efficiency.
Develop and implement metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of instructional technology initiatives, ensuring they align with teaching and learning goals.
Assist in planning budgets and timelines for implementing and maintaining classroom technologies in collaboration with administration.
Conduct a full audit and maintain a record of educational technology tools and platforms being utilized, and ensure financial decisions are made thoughtfully and in partnership with the Senior Systems Administrator.
Community Collaboration:
Build positive relationships with faculty, students and families to promote technology as a tool for engagement, exploration, and academic success.
Partner with the Senior System Administrator to ensure seamless integration of hardware, software and instructional strategies.
Work collaboratively with the System Administrators to ensure that the infrastructure supports instructional goals and troubleshoot systemic issues as needed.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment where all students and teachers feel empowered to leverage technology effectively.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional technology, or a related field (master’s preferred).
Experience in high school education, instructional design, educational technology integration or information technology.
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong understanding of pedagogy and the integration of technology into a variety of subjects.
Familiarity with AI tools, learning management systems, Google Workspace, and other educational technology platforms.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to collaboration and inclusivity.
Ability to quickly assimilate new tools and effectively translate that knowledge into training for others.
Experience with rapid prototyping and fabrication tools, such as 3D printers and laser cutters preferred.
