Dear Prospective Candidate,
The Global Scientific Publications Fellowship is a one-year position based onsite at Gilead Sciences, Inc. Headquarters in Foster City, California. The fellowship is designed to enhance the efficiency, innovation, and global alignment of the Global Scientific Publications department by providing critical support across strategic areas such as publication encores, global-to-local publication planning (with a focus on RWE, HEOR, and ClinPharm), and the development of publication extenders and departmental initiatives involving AI, authorship guidance, and Publication Steering Committees.
Duration: 1 year (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027)

Global Scientific Communications, Global Scientific Publications Fellowship Activities:
The fellow will:
• Assist in tailoring global publication strategies to local market needs, particularly in RWE, HEOR, and ClinPharm • Streamline the identification and dissemination of encore presentations. • Support AI pilot projects for literature review, content generation, data visualization, and metrics reporting showcasing impact across TAs • Contribute to authorship policy development and training • Provide logistical and analytical support for Publication Steering Committees. • Develop publication extenders such as infographics, plain language summaries, and videos
Cross-functional collaboration: The fellow will engage with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of global publication strategies with regional regulatory and healthcare decision-maker requirements. This includes collaboration on publication planning, content adaptation, and dissemination strategies.
Operational Excellence: By taking on time-intensive tasks, the fellow will free up senior team members to focus on strategic initiatives. This will improve the quality, reach, and compliance of publications, and support the integration of innovative technologies and methodologies.
Strategic Planning: The fellowship is a strategic investment aimed at supporting current departmental priorities and enabling future growth. It serves as a pipeline for developing future talent in scientific communications and medical affairs.
External Department Rotations: Based on the fellow’s interests, there may be an opportunity to participate in rotations with other Gilead departments to gain comprehensive experience and diversify your skillset.
USC Graduate Coursework: Fellows may complete graduate coursework at the University of Southern California with the opportunity to pursue a Graduate Certificate in a variety of fields.
Leadership & Career Development: Fellows will have opportunities for leadership, teaching, and professional growth, including mentoring PharmD students and engaging in professional development activities such as goal setting, strengths identification/assessments, advising, coaching, and mentoring at USC.
Minimum Application Requirements:
The candidate must be a US citizen/permanent resident and have completed a PharmD, MD, PhD or equivalent doctorate degree from an accredited college or university within five years of initial appointment and a minimum doctoral program GPA of 3.0, have good oral and written communication skills, ethics, professionalism, leadership, and an interest in the biopharmaceutical industry.
