The John V. Roach Honors College at Texas Christian University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Digital Studies position in the College’s core interdisciplinary faculty beginning August 2024. The preferred area of expertise is digital studies, digital ethics, and the critical analysis and ethical implications of technology, media, culture, and society, specifically around AI and/or social media.
The disciplinary background is open. We welcome interest from any applicants who are developing courses and producing interdisciplinary scholarship that explores the intersections of digital studies, media, technology, and culture.
We seek a first-rate teacher and scholar who is:
• a creative educator who uses digital studies as a vehicle for innovative pedagogy;
• a scholar of digital technology, media, and culture with a significant, ongoing research agenda;
• a colleague whose teaching and scholarship embody fundamental commitments to diversity and inclusion.
• an excellent teacher dedicated to facilitating high-impact, experiential, and inclusive practices for undergraduate honors students and engaged student mentoring.

Required qualifications:
• Doctoral degree (awarded no later than August 2024)
• Active research agenda in the field of digital studies (defined broadly as the interpretation, criticism, or science of digital studies, technology, media, and culture)
• Demonstrated achievement as a creative and reflective teacher capable of effectively teaching honors courses at the undergraduate level;
• Demonstrated success in supporting an atmosphere of collegiality.
Preferred qualifications:
• Either Honors or interdisciplinary teaching experience (or equivalent).
• Interest or experience in securing external research funding

The John V. Roach Honors College is a community of ambitious, intellectually curious students from every major on campus (over 1,200 in total, approximately 10 percent of the TCU undergraduate population). Honors College faculty craft unique learning experiences through which students encounter ideas and perspectives beyond their majors, adding depth and context to students’ undergraduate studies and accelerating their personal growth. Through high-impact practices such as intercultural and interdisciplinary inquiry, discussion-intensive seminars, independent research and creative projects, and community-engaged learning, Honors students are immersed in a culture of transformative inquiry. Honors students are further supported by a dedicated team of Honors Academic Advisors.
