The primary responsibilities for this position include to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels, publish, and secure external funding for research in areas related to the Design of Mechanical Systems, including:
Mechanical Engineering Principles: Expertise in the design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical systems, with strong knowledge of statics, dynamics, strength of materials, and heat transfer.
Mechanical Design: Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software for creating detailed designs, as well as experience in conceptualizing, modeling, and prototyping mechanical components and systems.
Component Analysis: Application of design thinking and systems thinking to mechanical component design.
Materials Selection: Knowledge of material selection criteria and manufacturing processes.
Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Ability to simulate and analyze the behavior of mechanical components and structures under various loads and conditions.
AI/ML in Mechanical Systems: Capability to integrate and teach Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) methods for system design, development, analysis, and manufacturing.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, engaging in program assessment and service to the department, College, and University as needed.
