The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University seeks an instructor for AI Literacy and Policy Fundamentals: Understanding and Mitigating Algorithmic Bias, a non-credit bearing course in the Fall 2025 semester. This course is an 8-week hybrid online certificate program designed to provide a foundational understanding of algorithmic bias and anti-bias strategies in the context of artificial intelligence (AI). Participants will explore how AI systems can perpetuate biases, the impact of these biases on decision-making processes, and the ethical and policy considerations necessary to create fair and trustworthy AI systems. The course aims to equip learners with the tools and knowledge to critically assess AI applications and implement strategies to mitigate bias.
Candidates with a PhD, or equivalent qualifications in AI, machine learning, public policy, or related fields and experience in algorithmic bias, fairness in AI, and public policy will be given preference. Interested individuals should submit a cover letter, CV, a draft course syllabus, and the names and contact information for two references. The deadline for first consideration is December 1, 2024.
