Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Global Risk Analytics Manager.

Principal Responsibilities

Role Purpose:

The Global Risk Analytics Manager is responsible for supporting Regional Head of Wholesale Monitoring, Data and Innovation / Head of Global Risk Analytics in the development and validation of wholesale Credit models, the related analytics support in Asia Pacific.

In addition to the regional responsibilities, the job holder should also ensure global consistency in the development, implementation, and monitoring of wholesale credit methodology, policies and systems.

The role holder is also expected to provide both consultation and support on other risk analytics such as (but not limited to) IRB modelling, Stress Testing, IFRS9 and Economic Capital across key customer groups to build shareholder value and profitability and to protect employees, assets, and reputation of the HSBC Group via:

• Improved measurement of risk-related capital resources
• Close alignment between the Risk and Business/Support functions in execution of the role
• Alignment of the regional Analytics to the Global Analytics via a close and collaborative on-going relationship with Group Risk and the Global Head of Global Risk Analytics

Impact on the Business / Function

• Support/Lead the analysis, development and coordination with Customer Groups, Product Groups, Group Risk and regulators on the review and re-development of Wholesale credit models
• Support/Manage the development and monitoring of risk policies, processes and tools that facilitate risk-based business management
• Support/Management of research, review, formulation and revision of wholesale credit policies and guidelines from modelling perspective

Customers / Stakeholders

• Support the interaction with customer groups and product groups to ensure understanding of credit risk models, policy, and decision making / behaviour to achieve related aims
• Support/Involve in the interaction with regulators and industry bodies on the risk rating systems matter
• Support evaluation of new and review on business initiatives/propositions and related credit proposals
• Support/Manage monitoring the implementation progress of internal audit recommendations

Leadership & Teamwork

• Strong communication working alongside other Risk Disciplines, FIN, Treasury / Markets, and GBM, CMB, GTRF, GPB and Operations at Regional office and across countries, and with Group Risk to ensure implementation of new disciplines in a globally consistent manner

Operational Effectiveness & Control

• Adoption of advanced Risk Rating Methodology concepts and systems across the business
• Improved prioritisation of asset allocation to ensure best returns based on related risks
• Maintain cost discipline
• At a team level supports and locally embeds change initiatives
• Support the analyses for a more coordinated approach to forward-looking analyses within Analytics to improve productivity
• Support the development of forward-looking processes in managing the AOP and risk mitigation for specific portfolio

Requirements

Qualifications

• Degree holder or above in Finance, Mathematics, Risk Management, Statistics, or a related field

Experience

• Have a good understanding of credit decision modelling, in particular within the wholesale environment
• Experienced in banking industry, including experience in Risk and in a business line (preferably corporate)
• Prefer to have a hands-on experience in Basel modelling, monitoring, and machine learning model development
• Prefer to have experience in Basel and HKMA regulatory capital rules
• Experienced in supplier chain financing and related performance risk management would be an significant add-on

Skills

• Able to work in a dynamic and multinational culture and cope with high pressure
• Proven writing and analytical skills
• Strong technical background with excellent communication and project management skills
• Highly skilled in using Python or any programming language. Experience in using Tableau would be an added advantage
• Demonstrated capability to lead analytical project
• Strong sense in credit risk and trade performance risk management
• Any experience on the latest industry development such as understanding of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques would be an added bonus
