The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering at the Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) invites well-qualified individual to apply for the tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2024.The ECE department offers two ABET-accredited undergraduate degree programs as well as two graduate degrees (a masterâ™s and a doctoral degree in electrical and computer engineering). We are seeking candidates who can lead department growth, complement current expertise in its six research centers, and contribute to interdisciplinary research/education focus areas through fundamental disciplinary and/or application-specific research and workforce development initiatives. Although the ECE department welcomes applications from outstanding candidates from all areas of electrical and computer engineering to apply, the department has a particular interest in candidates with expertise in: (i) microelectronics/semiconductors/hardware security; (ii) power-engineering/power electronics/application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in smart-grids; and in (iii) computer engineering/cybersecurity/quantum computing
Responsibilities:
Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels including developing new courses and laboratories, and assessment.
Advise students each semester on course selection, and mentor them in the area of professional development, research projects, theses, and dissertations.
Conduct research in their technical areas with a focus on advancing knowledge, solving practical problems in the field, and publish scholarly papers.
Seek and secure external funding for research/education through grant proposals.
Participate in department/college/university service activities such as committee work, student recruitment, and outreach events as well as provide service to the engineering profession.
Required Education & Experience:
An earned doctorate in electrical and/or computer engineering or a related field.
Demonstrated scholarly achievements as evidenced by a track record of publications and potential for establishing an extramurally funded research program.
Evidence of commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and ability to teach in one or more of the broad topical areas in electrical and computer engineering: microelectronics, power engineering, cybersecurity, machine learning/AI, data science, wireless communications, high performance computing, quantum information sciences and engineering.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills·
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. ·
Ability to use technology and related software to support online teaching.
A viable plan to develop and sustain an externally funded research program.

Preferred Qualifications:
An earned doctorate in electrical and computer engineering with expertise in at least one of the following fields: microelectronics/semiconductors, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence/data science, power engineering/power electronics, cyber-physical systems, wireless communications, quantum information sciences and engineering.
Experience with interdisciplinary research collaborations.
Experience with curriculum/laboratory development, online teaching and learning platforms, and program assessment.
