Position Summary: Oxbridge Academy seeks a passionate and innovative Middle School Science Teacher to join a dynamic and collaborative Science Department. While the position is primarily focused on Middle School instruction, it includes opportunities to teach Upper School science courses based on departmental needs and candidate expertise.
The ideal candidate will inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of scientific principles through engaging, inquiry-based instruction. Applicants with academic backgrounds or teaching experience in Physics or Chemistry are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities: • Engaging & Rigorous Instruction: Design and implement student-centered, inquiry-driven science lessons aligned with Oxbridge Academy’s curriculum, emphasizing conceptual understanding, scientific reasoning, and real-world application. • Middle School Focused Teaching: Teach primarily Middle School science courses, with the potential to teach Upper School sections depending on experience and departmental needs. • Curriculum Collaboration: Work closely with Science Department colleagues to ensure vertical and lateral alignment of curriculum, skills, and assessments across grades 6–12. • Assessment & Feedback: Assess student learning regularly and provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families. • Student-Centered Learning Environment: Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom culture that encourages curiosity, intellectual risk-taking, and a growth mindset. • Mentorship & Character Development: Build strong relationships with students, supporting both academic growth and character development in alignment with Oxbridge’s mission. • Community Engagement: Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events, contributing to a collaborative and mission-driven community. • Parent & Guardian Communication: Maintain clear, proactive communication with parents, guardians, and support staff regarding student progress and learning needs. • Technology & Lab Integration: Utilize instructional technology and laboratory experiences to enhance student engagement and deepen scientific understanding.
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field. • Demonstrated ability to teach Middle School science effectively; Upper School teaching experience is a plus. • Strong content knowledge, particularly in Physics and/or Chemistry (strongly preferred). • Commitment to inquiry-based, experiential, and student-centered teaching practices. • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive, engaging learning environment. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Comfort integrating technology and laboratory-based learning into instruction.
Preferred Attributes: • Experience teaching in an independent or private school, preferably within a mission-driven educational community. • Interest in contributing to the school community beyond the classroom, including advising, mentoring, or co-curricular involvement. • Enthusiasm for ongoing professional development and innovative instructional practices.
