A Greengrass Developer?creates and manages IoT edge solutions using AWS IoT Greengrass, a service that brings AWS functionality to local devices. The role involves developing and deploying applications to edge devices, configuring secure communication, and managing the device fleet.? 

Responsibilities may include any of the following: 

• Design and implement edge computing solutions using AWS IoT Greengrass v2 to process data locally on devices. 

• Develop and deploy custom applications and Lambda functions to run on edge devices, often using Docker containers. 

• Integrate devices with AWS IoT Core to ensure secure connectivity, ingest telemetry data, and route data using rules. 

• Implement security protocols, such as MQTT and TLS, to manage device authentication and authorization. 

• Optimize data flow between the edge and the cloud, focusing on reducing latency for critical applications. 

• Troubleshoot and monitor the health of IoT device fleets using tools like AWS IoT Device Management and Amazon CloudWatch. 

• Collaborate with embedded systems and hardware teams to ensure seamless integration. 

• Perform code reviews, and component integration testing.  

A qualified candidate will exhibit most of the characteristics below: 

Technical skills: 

Core AWS Services: Hands-on experience with AWS Greengrass, AWS IoT Core, AWS Lambda, and IAM is preferred. 

Programming: Proficiency in Python 

IoT Protocols: Experience with industrial protocols like MQTT is a strong plus, as is knowledge of secure communication protocols (TLS). 

DevOps: Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and version control tools like GitHub is valued. 

Hardware and Embedded Systems: Experience working with Linux-based IoT gateways, embedded systems, or related fields. 

Problem-Solving: Strong debugging and problem-solving skills are necessary for working with complex, distributed IoT systems. 

Security: Expertise in IoT security best practices, including device identity management with certificates and access control policies. 

Soft skills: 

• Collaboration:?Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to work effectively with cross-functional teams. 

• Adaptability:?A strong passion for learning and the ability to adapt to new technologies and evolving requirements in a fast-paced startup, small-team environment. 

• Attention to detail:?Meticulousness in design implementation and code quality to ensure a polished user experience.? 

Education and experience required: 

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
