Job Summary:
This position collaborates with supervisors, school administrators, teachers, the Career and Technical Education Office, and other division departments to lead and support K-12 Computer Science and STEM education. Under the direction of the Director of Student Learning, the role is responsible for planning, developing, managing, implementing, and evaluating Computer Science and STEM programs across the division.
Essential Responsibilities Specific to this Job:
•
Provides leadership in the development of strategic approaches for computer science and STEM.
•
Facilitates and manages the integration of computer science and STEM into the K-12 curriculum.
•
Designs and delivers professional development and support to K-12 teachers in the areas of computer science and STEM.
•
Directs or assists in coordinating special projects and programs for computer science and STEM.
•
Supports the fulfillment of all contractual obligations and promotes best practices in vendor relationship management.
•
Responds to requests for information and materials from individual teachers, principals, citizens, and media.
•
Facilitates grants and reporting related to computer science and STEM.
•
Develops, implements, and evaluates computer science and STEM curricula, programs, and training materials.
•
Manages budgets, allocates resources, and ensures compliance with policies and procedures related to computer science and STEM programs.
•
Collects, analyzes, and reports data related to computer science and STEM programs and student performance.
•
Works collaboratively with other departments, schools, and community partners to support computer science and STEM initiatives.
•
Ensures compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to computer science and STEM education.
•
Ensures integration of Computer Science standards into the K-12 curriculum.
•
Ensures compliance with all VDOE directives around computer science, STEM, and accompanying standards and courses.
•
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of advancements in Computer Science and STEM education, including emerging technologies such as AI, and integrates these developments into curriculum enhancements.
Candidates must hold a master's degree and hold or be immediately eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional Educator license with an endorsement in Administration/Supervision. Minimum of five years successful teaching experience (computer science preferred) with some portion in curriculum design/development/writing; educational administration and supervisory experience preferred
