Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Health Sciences, the GenAI (Generative Artificial Intelligence) Program Coordinator is a 3-year term position that will support all aspects of the University Libraries' Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) Roadmap, including launching the AI Studio.
The AI Studio expected to launch in 2025 will democratize access to generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools on campus. By creating a barrier-free space where users can learn the basics of GenAI, experiment with a variety of tools, and connect with knowledgeable staff who can assist with a variety of AI solutions, the AI Studio will foster understanding of, provide experience with, and remove barriers to using GenAI among the campus community.
In addition to the AI Studio, the GenAI Roadmap includes supporting staff development around GenAI; expanding public services and programming through webinars, course and curriculum-integrated instruction, events, consultations, and asynchronous resources such as online guides; consideration of how GenAI may affect licensing and policy decisions related to collections; coordinating engagement with key campus partners and units including Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE), Writing and Learning Center, School of Library and information Science (SILS), School of Data Science and Society (SDSS), health affairs schools, and others; coordinating staff development and engagement; and supporting GenAI application to library workflows through projects in multiple units including Digital Research Services, Health Research Services, Special Collections, Research and Instructional Services, Clinical, Academic and Research Engagement, and Library IT, among others.
The GenAI Program Coordinator will support public GenAI services and programming by overseeing the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the GenAI Studio, ensuring alignment with campus needs, coordinating outreach and educational events, and providing continuous support to enhance GenAI literacy and user engagement.
The GenAI Program Coordinator will support internal GenAI efforts by overseeing staff development, maintaining communication channels, and facilitating opportunities for library staff to share knowledge and integrate GenAI into workflows and projects. The position will also collaborate with leadership and library staff including subject matter experts to monitor emerging trends, recommend strategy, identify opportunities for reporting and publishing insights, and highlight success stories to showcase the impact of GenAI services.
The Libraries GenAI Roadmap is overseen by the Associate University Librarian for Collections Strategy and Services, the Associate University Librarian for Health Sciences, and the Associate University Librarian for Digital Strategies and Information Technology. This position will report to the Associate University Librarian for Health Sciences and will have a dotted line relationship with the other two positions.
