Summary of Essential Duties:
The Trauma Registrar is responsible for entering and maintaining patient data into the hospital Trauma registry, ensuring accuracy, adjustments and routine reporting; assigns and scores all injuries with appropriate coding. You will collect additional data as requested by Trauma Services; update and provide missing data elements as information becomes available.
Identifies cases for inclusion into the Trauma Registry database.
Abstracts data from the medical records for inclusion in the database. Ensures accuracy of all data based on Trauma level 1 requirements.
Assigns and score all injuries utilizing the AIS and ICD-9 system. Collectsaccurate E-codes inclusive of all procedures and complications as required.
Ensures all registry software and hardware applications are compliant withup-to-date processes, procedures and latest updates and conducts system maintenance as required.
Participates in performance improvement audits and provides clinical reviews of Trauma patient care. Responsible for extracting data to prepare analytical reviews and deliver results along with providing recommendations and/or corrective action, as needed to management.
Creates and maintains data base spreadsheets, standard operating procedures, quality control and optimizations of system tools in accordance to Trauma quality improvement programs.
Prepares routine and adhoc reports based on data analysis and performance activities. Ensures timelydeliverables to local, regional and national agencies and/or internal partners (e.g. County Trauma registry, American College of Surgeon Quality Improvement, National Trauma Data Bank, etc.) to adhere to compliance requirements.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
License/Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical setting, such as emergency department, operating room, surgical-trauma intensive care unit or related required
Trauma Registry database experience with knowledge of abstracting/interpreting medical information from medical records preferred
