The Edge Intelligence and Networking (EIN) at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Michigan State University invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position in the area of LoRa networking and sensing systems for agriculture IoT in rural environments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of wireless communication, sensing technologies, and precision agriculture, addressing real-world challenges in rural connectivity and sustainability.
The selected candidate will lead efforts to design, implement, and optimize LoRa-based IoT systems tailored for agricultural applications. This includes developing innovative solutions for low-power, long-range wireless communication; integrating diverse sensing technologies; and exploring scalable deployment strategies in rural settings. The research aims to enhance data-driven decision-making for agricultural practices, with a focus on affordability, reliability, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct advanced research on LoRa networking protocols, including performance optimization in rural and remote environments.
Design and implement sensing systems to monitor various agricultural parameters (e.g., soil moisture, weather conditions, crop health).
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including agronomists, data scientists, and engineers, to align IoT solutions with agricultural needs.
Develop and evaluate prototypes and field-deployable systems through experimental trials in rural settings.
Publish research findings in high-impact conferences and journals.
Mentor graduate and undergraduate students contributing to the project.

Doctorate -Computer Science or related area
Minimum Requirements
