New field research into enhanced rock weathering and geochemical modelling
Working with local and global research teams
Fixed term role with great benefits and career opportunities
Ng? k?rero m? te t?ranga - About the role
We have a full-time, two year fixed-term postdoctoral fellow position available for a highly motivated individual to develop and conduct high-quality research that aims to test the efficacy of enhanced rock weathering for global scale carbon capture.
You will work with Terry Isson (University of Waikato - Tauranga, habitablearth.com) and Louis Schipper (University of Waikato - Hamilton, waiber.com). This full-time position (37.5 hours per week) is based at the University of Waikato, Tauranga.
The research will seek to determine the rate of CO2 removal in-field across New Zealand, and also quantify upstream and downstream losses of CO2 associated with this process. This will be carried out through the deployment of field trials and combining results with geochemical modelling. This work aims to provide a realistic assessment of the true potential of enhanced rock weathering for effective carbon removal.
Salary will be in the range of $87,500 to $104,322 prorated per year, based on skills, knowledge, and experience brought to the position. Please see the position description for more information. For a confidential conversation about the role, please contact Terry Isson (terry.isson@waikato.ac.nz). All applications must be submitted through the online portal, emailed applications will not be accepted.
