Position Summary:
The Stanley M. Truhlsen Eye Institute and Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at the University of Nebraska Medical Center is recruiting research faculty at the level of Assistant Professor with a focus on computer vision, deep learning and applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in ophthalmology. The strongest candidates will be those with a demonstrated record of scholarly activity and extramural research funding or potential for extramural funding.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D., O.D., M.D., or equivalent degree. Postdoctoral and/or fellowship training is strongly encouraged. The selected candidate will engage in emerging AI development, mentor Ph.D. and M.S. students and postdoctoral trainees, and support collaboration within the Department and across the University campus. It is expected that this candidate will secure external research funding and develop a translational research departmental initiative encompassing data informatics and artificial intelligence in the field of ophthalmology and the visual sciences.
