Part-time Faculty Positions
DePaul University invites expressions of interest for a pool of qualified Part Time Faculty to teach courses in a variety of disciplines across all 10 colleges and schools. Individuals may enter expressions of interest by submitting their credentials to any posting for which they are qualified to teach. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Screening of individuals in the pool is ongoing, depending on curricular need and funding. Individuals will be contacted by the department if they reach the finalist stage for teaching a particular course or set of courses. The pool will remain in place until the closing date specified in the posting details; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must resubmit. All individuals in the pool will be notified by email when the posting is closed.

The School of Design within the Jarvis College of Computing and Digital Media at DePaul University is seeking candidates for an Assistant or Associate professor to begin in September 2025. Job responsibilities include teaching, research and creative practice, and providing service to the School of Design and the broader institution. We invite individuals eager to establish our school as a regional and national leader in design education. The successful candidate will be appointed as a faculty member in the School of Design and will have teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the area of Graphic Design, named a GDUSA top design school from 2019-2024. Colleagues in the School of Design program are dedicated to mutual success and growth, and we are interested in someone who will add new dimensions to our programs.

About the School of Design
Located in the heart of Chicago, the School of Design in the Jarvis College of Computing and Digital Media prides itself on nurturing a diverse body of over 500 students to become visionary designers who will become leaders in their fields. The School of Design offers nationally-ranked undergraduate and graduate programs in core and emerging design disciplines, encompassing game design, graphic design, industrial design, and user experience design, digital communication and media arts, and human centered design. In keeping with DePaul's Vincentian mission, our curricula invite students to participate in storytelling, research, innovation, and iterative making through digital modes, leading to creation of printed matter (e.g., posters, books), interactive systems (websites, mobile apps), objects (packaging, wearables, physical technology), games (video games, AR/VR experiences, simulations, table top games), and experience (exhibits, services, programs).

Faculty have access to cutting-edge equipment and lab spaces, including a print lab, two well-equipped makerspaces with facilities for fabricating wood, metal, plastics, soft goods, and electronics; recording, film, stop-motion animation, and motion-capture studios; and several VR and AR production spaces. The Jarvis Student Center for Innovation and Collaboration brings together students and faculty from across the college and provides a media lounge for lectures and presentations, an XR creative studio, and private spaces and conference rooms for meetings.
Faculty in the School of Design are given many forms of support to launch or continue research and creative practice including exhibiting and presenting work at festivals, galleries, museums, and conferences. Faculty have access to opportunities across the university including cross-institutional partnerships, interdisciplinary initiatives, and fellowships, as well as support through the offices of research services (ORS), University Research Council (URC), and other support for student research. Required Qualifications: Candidates are expected to be able to teach theoretical and practical hands-on undergraduate and graduate level graphic design courses, including design foundations and advanced topics. We are seeking candidates who can shape and build our graduate programs by developing curricula within graphic design and across disciplines and advising graduate students. Candidates should have teaching experience in a design-related field, a proven record of professional practice, and a well-developed creative research agenda in design.
We are seeking applicants who are motivated to lead school-wide initiatives and can foster collaboration with colleagues and students across disciplines. Qualified candidates will be able to contribute to our curriculum and enhance the research and creative opportunities for our students by bringing a design practice informed by an understanding of contemporary issues in design and society. We are interested in a wide range of contemporary practices of (e.g., visual design, UX, product design, digital fabrication, emerging technologies, prototyping, service design, etc.), especially interdisciplinary practices which intersect with a range of impactful topics (e.g., accessibility, AI, ethics, design justice, civics & politics, sustainability, etc.).
Candidates must have a terminal degree (e.g., MFA, MDes) in graphic design or related field. Exceptions are made for candidates who have already attained recognition for scholarly or other relevant professional achievements and who give promise of continued academic development.
Preferred, but not required, experience in one or more of the following includes: partnership building across academia, industry, and community organizations; grants and fundraising, and leading curriculum efforts including developing and launching graduate degrees.
