Tenure Track Faculty Position: Pain Research Center
New York University
Application
Details
Posted: 17-Oct-24
Location: New York, NY
Internal Number: 157085
The NYU Pain Research Center (PRC) and Department of Molecular Pathobiology at the New York University (NYU) Dentistry seeks applications at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor for tenure track research-focused positions in the areas of chronic pain mechanisms, therapeutic management of pain, and related disciplines.
The Department of Molecular Pathobiology has a strong and rapidly expanding research program with substantial support from the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, and Foundations. The Department is located in state-of-the-art laboratories in close proximity to the broader NYU research community. Research in the Department focuses on understanding normal human biology as well as disease through studies of molecules, cells, tissues, and systems, as well as the engineering aspects of life science and medicine. Current interests include: studies of the molecular mechanisms and treatment of chronic pain; metabolic and inflammatory diseases; cell signaling; and biomaterials, 3-D printed scaffolds, tissue engineering, developmental biology and AI linked diagnostics. The members of the PRC have expertise in the structure and function of G-protein coupled receptors and receptor tyrosine kinases, pain signaling mechanisms, nanomedicine therapeutics for pain, cancer pain, migraine pain, visceral/abdominal pain, gut-brain signaling, developmental biology, oral sensation, and chronic itch. See Departmental website: https://dental.nyu.edu/faculty/molecular-pathobiology.html
The PRC and Department wish to recruit a highly creative scientist who will lead and maintain a cutting-edge and extramurally funded research program that will complement and synergize with current research activities in the PRC and Department. The ideal candidate will interact with members of the PRC and Department, faculty of NYU Dentistry, NYU School of Medicine, NYU Tandon School of Engineering, as well as foster collaborations with the greater NYU and New York research communities. Individuals with pain-aligning interests in biomedical and chemical engineering, tissue regeneration, stem cell biology, nanomedicines, and modeling of human development and disease through organoid experimental models are encouraged to apply.

Candidates with K99/R00 or similar awards are strongly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain a robust externally funded research program and to contribute to the intellectual life of the Department by mentoring and instructing students and postdoctoral fellows and by contributing university and community service. Teaching requirements will be commensurate with the Department?s needs and the applicant?s qualifications.
Successful candidates will receive a competitive start-up package. In compliance with NYC?s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for the rank of Assistant Professor on the tenure track is $140K - $210K & for the rank of Associate Professor on the tenure track is $135K - $225K. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate?s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
The Department of Molecular Pathobiology provides a respectful, equitable, diverse and inclusive community that fosters creativity, innovation and collaboration. NYU is committed to building a culturally diverse and inclusive intellectual community, and strongly encourages women and minorities to apply.
