Harvard's Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology (HSCRB;http://hscrb.harvard.edu) is currently recruiting tenure-track faculty to join its interactive and multi-disciplinary research and teaching missions. Candidates with PhD, MD, or equivalent degrees, track-records of scientific accomplishments in life science-related fields, and innovative research plans are encouraged to apply.

Research in HSCRB spans broad areas of science including: developmental biology; organ repair and aging; technology and therapeutics development (e.g., -omics, gene editing, gene therapy); and genetic, epigenetic and biochemical mechanisms of disease. Current faculty leverage a range of model systems from axolotls to zebrafish to mice to human pluripotent stem cells and organoids, and the department embraces both fundamental discovery and translational research. HSCRB hosts three degree-granting programs: an AB in Human Development and Regenerative Biology, a PhD in Developmental and Regenerative Biology, and a joint MS/MBA with Harvard Business School in Biotechnology: Life Sciences. HSCRB faculty interact extensively with other academic institutions and departments in the Boston area, including the Broad Institute, Kempner Institute, and Harvard-affiliated hospitals. We welcome applicants pursuing research in areas represented by our current laboratories (e.g., stem cell biology, developmental and aging biology, neurobiology, immunology, gene regulation) as well as new areas in which we are looking to grow (e.g., advanced computation, artificial intelligence, chemical biology, brain-body connection, integrated physiology, extreme biology).

The successful candidate will build their research program on Harvard's Cambridge campus and benefit from state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, strong institutional and departmental commitment to career development, and a vibrant, collaborative scientific enterprise that brings together fundamental biology and medical science to create unique discoveries and educational opportunities. Appointments will be made at the academic rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, in accordance with the candidate's experience and accomplishments. 3. Research statement (3 pages. Figures are included in the page limit but references can be on a separate page). The research statement should outline the candidate's long-term vision for research in their future laboratory, with an emphasis on visionary projects that have potential for substantial impact, and summarize the candidate's prior work as evidence for their potential to execute this research.

4. Statement of Teaching and Mentoring (1-2 pages). The teaching portion of the statement should describe the candidate's teaching philosophy and practices as well as their approach to creating a learning environment in which students are encouraged to ask questions and share their ideas. All faculty in HSCRB are expected to teach at least one full-semester course, and new faculty generally have the option to design a new course aligned with their interests and with the assistance of HSCRB's education team. The mentoring portion of the statement should include the candidate's mentoring experience and ideas for fostering a laboratory environment where everyone can thrive.

5. Service Statement (1 page). Provide examples of activities or initiatives the candidate has led, catalyzed, or participated in to foster collaboration and idea exchange, promote scientific outreach, or create a supportive environment within their lab, department, program, institution, or the broader community.

Candidates for a tenure-track position must also submit names and contact information of 3-5 referees, who will be asked via a system-generated email to upload a letter of recommendation once the candidate's application has been submitted. Three letters of recommendation are required, and the application is considered complete only when at least three letters have been received. At least one letter must come from someone who has not served as the candidate's undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral advisor. Recommendation letters are due October 25, 2024.
