Position Summary This position is responsible for developing and applying innovative analytical approaches in the area of cancer data management. The Bioinformatics Research Analyst assists with carrying out research studies that focus on cancer and the discovery of new cohorts for cancer research. This position work with a wide range of varying stakeholders to design and implement integrative data analyses and data dissemination for various research studies.
Duties & Responsibilities
Design (with sizing and scalability) and manage a highly interactive environment of high performance computing cluster.
Maintain innovative visualization tools and highly automated analytical pipelines .
Develop data feeds to the current Cancer Data Shelter for downstream use by other applications.
Work with database administrators to develop a data management system for large-scale data.
Manage the implementation, customization, and optimization of data analyses pipelines through the use of code management tools, data ingestion, data cleaning and trans forma tion, dataflow automation, databases, cloud platforms, and visualization tools.
Develop, improve, modify, and operate data analysis pipelines, generate and provide analysis results and reports, and perform requested custom analyses.
Responsible for assembling, executing, and developing the latest bioinformatics pipelines for primary analysis.
Knowledge and systems experience on Azure/AWS will be preferred
Collaborate with supervisors and external collaborators to design and implement integrative data analyses, and prepare results for oral presentation, scientific publications, and grant applications
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Biomedical Informatics, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
Four to Six years of related experience, post education/training, computational/programming, or a related area is required. Excellent working knowledge of Big Data management, AI, and biostatistics is required.
Experience using statistical packages such as R, S-Plus, or SAS required. Experience in programming (Python, Java, C/C++, perl or other programming/scripting languages) under Linux/Unix environment is also required. Familiarity with statistical genetics/genomics software is preferred.
Proficiency with relational databases and programming languages used in the development of web-based MIS systems is a plus (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle etc.). Direct SQL Server experience is preferred.
Experience with data analyses under minimal supervision.
End user support and training experience is preferred.
Demonstrated project management skills and excellent organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills, and attention to detail along with interpersonal skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels.
Ability to work well and autonomously, in small teams on team projects, and with a wide range of varying stakeholders.
