NYU CREATE is a consortium of researchers committed to conducting research, providing education, and fostering community interaction to design evidence-based digital media that address the needs of a broad range of learners. We design simulations, games, AR, VR, web and mobile apps and other tools for learning and assessment and conduct research to understand design principles of effective digital media, and what the impact is that these tools have on cognitive, affective, and motivational outcomes. We are seeking a qualified and highly motivated individual to join our dynamic research team as a Full-Time Researcher specializing in Extended Reality (AR/VR/MR) and Artificial Intelligence as well as in learning analytics, biometric measures, or other advanced research and analysis methods.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate should have excellent knowledge of educational technology/learning sciences, XR technologies, and AI, as well as deep knowledge of advanced data analysis methods. The researcher will contribute to multiple cutting-edge research initiatives, engage in collaborative projects, and gain expertise in grant writing and project management. This position offers an exciting opportunity to advance knowledge in the intersection of education, technology, and design to investigate learning with immersive experiences and generative AI.
Conduct Research:
Lead and participate in research projects related to educational technology/learning sciences, XR studies, AI, and emotional Design.
Explore innovative approaches to enhance learning experiences through the integration of technology, immersive environments, and AI.
Grant Writing:
Identify funding opportunities, establish partnerships, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to strengthen grant applications
Prepare comprehensive grant proposals for submission to internal (NYU) and external funding agencies, showcasing a deep understanding of the specific requirements and priorities of each funding source.
Develop a strong theoretical and conceptual framework that underpins the research proposed in grant applications.
Work with the center director to develop clear and achievable research objectives, methodologies, and timelines within the proposal framework.
Integrate feedback from interdisciplinary collaborators to strengthen the overall proposal.
Demonstrate a keen understanding of financial management principles related to grant-funded projects. Develop detailed and accurate budgets that align with the proposed research activities.
Collaborate with university offices to navigate internal funding processes, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and strategies.
Research Project Management:
Effectively plan, organize, and execute research projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and milestones.
Coordinate research activities, manage resources, and foster collaboration among team members.
Lead the dissemination of research results in the form of journal articles, conference presentations, public lectures, and social media posts.
NYC Pay Transparency Act statement:
In compliance with NYC?s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $65,000 - $90,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.

Education: Ph.D. in Educational Technology, Learning Sciences, Virtual Reality Studies, or a related field.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of prior research experience, with a strong publication record.
Expertise: Advanced knowledge in educational technology, learning sciences, extended reality technologies, and AI.
Collaboration and Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both academic and non-academic audiences.

Working Modality and Supervisor:
Job duties for this position require onsite presence 60-80% of the time (i.e., 3 days per week). The office is located at NYU Brooklyn Campus at 370 Jay Street.
