Description As a member of the Career Services team, the Assistant Director of Employer Development will contribute to the strategic leadership of the Center by proactively partnering and collaborating internally and externally to build the future of career education at the Colleges. The Assistant Director of Employer Development will cultivate and maintains relationships with employers to make full- and part-time employment, internships, and career opportunities available to students, alumni, and alumnae. This will include identifying and cultivating relationships with parents, alumni, and alumnae as employers. As part of the relationship building, the Assistant Director will educate employers about the breadth of knowledge, skills, and abilities that HWS graduates can bring to their workplace. Travel will be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment:
Coordinate and host on-campus recruiters and promote students' candidacy
develop and maintain relationships with employers, alumni, alumnae and parents
develop and maintain relationships with faculty to further meet the needs of students
meet annually with faculty via department meetings or individual outreach
share opportunities with faculty for purposes of sharing opportunities with students
provide opportunities for faculty to meet with employers
devise marketing strategies and implement outreach to campus and external communities
build and maintain close relationships with representatives and recruiters for job and internship development opportunities, candidate referrals and on- and off-campus recruiting efforts
develops substantial database of opportunities for students; work with career counseling staff to identify students' interests and provide relevant jobs and internships
actively promotes opportunities to students and maintain web-based database system of position listings
assist with the placement of students into job shadow and externship opportunities
coordinate special recruiting efforts: partnership events, job fairs, networking events
target for expansion underrepresented disciplines, industries, and career fields
help to maintain the alumni/ae/parent networking database
Career Advising:
provide general career advising for students with defined career goals regarding resumes, professional correspondence, job search and networking strategies and specific employment opportunities; help support them with the use of AI/resume scanning services to enhance their materials for specific employers/industries
meet with students as they apply for opportunities and connect them with appropriate contacts, including alums and employers for networking and guidance
partner with the Assistant Director of Career Counseling in working with students interested in careers in not-for-profit, arts, education, and the sciences as it relates to identifying specific opportunities for those students
lead weekly meetings to review caseload of students
provide action steps to support the caseload of students
Program Development and Promotion:
develop and facilitate career-related evening workshops
coordinate the speaker series for not-for-profit, arts, architecture, education, and government fields
publicize and promote career programs and services
develop, coordinate, and attend winter break programs including Day on the Hill, Fashion Day, Arts, Non-Profits, and Environment Experience, and others as decided by the director
assist with writing and publishing office communications
present at Admissions events at peak times of the year and meet with individual recruits and prospective students/families
represent the office at meetings, events, etc. as requested by Executive Director
Administrative:
Manage research student worker, including trainings on Handshake (i.e. approving jobs, posting jobs, and approving employers) and overseeing their weekly work assignments
Increase Salisbury Center campus presence through collaboration with other offices in the development of programming and events
Responsible for managing the Guaranteed Internship Funding application process and applicant submissions
Schedule required workshops
Post, promote and review applications each Fall, Spring and Summer
Cross reference applications against the requirements checklist to ensure applicants completed requirements; follow up with those that haven't
Schedule and host mandatory orientation sessions for all students receiving funding; coordinate paperwork for business office including accountability contracts, thank you cards and requests for payment in Unimarket
Work with the business office to set students up in the payment system
Work with the director to Award funding from the 20 award sources
Assist the director in Follow up with all recipients to obtain their 2-page summaries for the donors; edit all papers before submitting them to the donor relations staff
Work closely with the Executive Director on administrative tasks as needed
OTHER INFORMATION
This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible administrative, exempt position. Normal campus office hours of work are 8:30am to 5:00pm during the academic year and a possible shortened workweek during the scheduled summer hours' period. This position is not all-inclusive, as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Annual salary- $58,500
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Masters degree in a relevant discipline highly preferred.
Successfully have demonstrated skills in selling, a sense of urgency to complete tasks, and outstanding interpersonal skills.
Experience with outreach, marketing, and recruitment.
Knowledge and experience with employer relations and other career programs preferred.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to develop and manage projects with independence and accountability.
Experience leading training sessions, designing and delivering workshops or teaching.
Ability to execute in a pressured environment.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication, and management/supervisory skills.
A motivated/enthusiastic work style.
Appreciation of liberal arts curriculum
Valid Drivers License and ability to travel on behalf of the Salisbury Center
Required technical knowledge: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Familiarity with Google Docs
Preferred technical knowledge: Raiser's Edge. Unimarket and Handshake
