The New York Convenience of employer guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholdings for this position. As Cornell University's online learning unit, eCornell delivers online professional certificate courses to individuals and organizations around the world. Courses are personally developed by Cornell faculty with expertise in a wide range of topics, including data analytics, management, marketing, human resources, leadership, and STEM. Students learn in an interactive, small cohort format to gain skills they can immediately apply in their organizations, while earning a professional certificate from Cornell University. eCornell has offered online learning courses and certificate programs for 15 years to over 130,000 students at more than 2,000 companies.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Technical Course Developer to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with Cornell University Faculty and eCornell's Instructional Design team to create cutting-edge, high-quality courses that empower learners in fields such as Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Data Analysis/Analytics, Machine Learning/AI, Python, and more.

What you will do

• As part of the eCornell Development team, building, configuring and testing the technical infrastructure for eCornell course development projects.
• Collaborating with the Instructional and Graphic Design teams to ensure course materials and exercises are rigorous, accurate and audience-appropriate.
• Configuring, testing and supporting eCornell's instructional technology infrastructure and integrations (e.g., Canvas, Codio, H5P, OmniDB, RStudio, Jupyter Notebooks/Labs, MATLAB).

• Collaborating with Cornell faculty on technical details, and, as necessary, explaining the details of technical concepts and terminology used by the faculty to members of the development team.

• Working with Instructional Designers, faculty authors, contracts subject-matter experts, and technical testers as necessary to review and help drive consensus on technical details.
• Becoming expert in eCornell's suite of instructional technology and productivity tools, (e.g.: HelpDocs, BugHerd, Wrike).
• Providing support, troubleshooting, and documentation on eCornell courses and tools.

What you will need

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, CS, AI, or related field with a minimum of 3 years' experience working in the Engineering or Data Science field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven ability to be adaptive and resourceful in a dynamic, customer-focused work environment.
• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills in determining technical issues and solutions.
• Superior organizational and communication (written and oral) skills; expert interpersonal skills; ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with customers, stakeholders, and staff at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated experience communicating technical concepts in non-technical terms to various audiences.
• Demonstrated proactive and responsive approach focused on collaboration with positivity toward solutions.
• Excellent time management skills and strong attention to detail.
• Self-motivated, ability to work independently and as part of a team while sharing expertise as needed, demonstrating accountability, openness, and transparency. Collaborate successfully to identify and solve complex problems.
• Demonstrated aptitude to stay current on new and emerging technologies.

What we prefer

• Master's degree in Engineering, CS, AI, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience working in Jupyter Notebooks/Labs, R/RStudio, MATLAB, and/or git version control.
• Strong academic or autodidactic foundation of understanding in one or more of the following: Robotics, Engineering, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Data Analytics.
• Strong understanding and experience in the application of Python, R, and/or SQL; familiarity with contemporary data engineering concepts and systems.
• Strong familiarity with and passion for online learning programs and teaching technologies.
• Appropriate industry certifications in alignment with degree and field of expertise.
• Experience working in Codio or other educational IDE.
