Job Description

SOFTWARE ENGINEER, Jameel Clinic for Machine Learning in Health (J-Clinic), to play a key role in developing an open-source community to harness contributions from the broad artificial intelligence (AI) and medical IT community to translate AI advances from the Jameel Clinic into clinical care; develop integrations to ingest data from hospital systems; and efficiently deploy AI tools. J-Clinic hopes to develop a shared platform to aid other AI researchers who wish to integrate their tools into clinic. Will work with research scientists, Ph.D. and graduate students, and other collaborators to support the project. To facilitate participation from external developers, will help establish contributor guidelines and tutorials, prioritizing responsiveness to contributor issues and pull requests, moderating discussions, and reviewing and incorporating contributions from the community. Responsibilities include both leading the testing and maintenance of data management and integrating with hospital systems and for developing a sustainable framework for active open-source community involvement.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: B.S. or higher in computer science, machine learning, or related engineering field; industry experience applying machine learning to at least two data types (e.g., text, video, audio, time-series, etc.); experience integrating with hospital EMR systems and PACS systems; seven years' professional software development experience and ability to write production quality code; proficiency with Python; experience with software development practices, including git-based version control, CI/CD, etc.; experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., virtual machines, Docker); excellent project-management, analytical, problem-solving, organizational decision-making skills, and written and verbal English communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; and ability to work effectively in a highly variable, dynamic, and unstructured environment with people across all levels.
