We are recruiting a full time Adolescent Medicine Specialist for the position of Clinical Assistant and Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Clinician Educator) in the Department of Pediatrics.  The Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at CHLA is one of the oldest in the country and has extensive clinical, educational and research programs. We currently have 12 faculty and over 100 staff and trainees participating in programs ranging from homeless care, HIV prevention and care, gender affirmation program, mental health and substance use services, and a transition care program. We are also a LEAH funded educational site.

Depending on candidate interests and experience, clinical opportunities include sexual and reproductive health, gender affirming care, eating disorders treatment, etc. There are rich teaching clinic opportunities for both residents and fellows that include Job Corp (a federally funded job training program), Planned Parenthood High School clinics, a nearby community FQHC run by General Pediatrics providing adolescent primary and specialty care to minors, and fellowship supervision clinics in our primarily specialty clinics in the division. Depending on experience, there may also be opportunities  to direct our LEAH clinic, fellowship program, or residency training program.

Candidates interested in research can request support based on interest and experience. The division currently has research funding in transgender health, HIV prevention and treatment, and reproductive health. Three of our junior faculty are currently funded through the University of Southern California KL2 program focused on PEP/PrEP access, mHealth/AI support for medication adherence, and intervention development for complex mental health issues for youth with Gender Dysphoria.

The annual base salary range for this position is $95,904-$325,712.  When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
