Key School is seeking a Middle and Upper School Innovation Lab Coordinator for the 2023-2024 academic year. This experienced educator will be passionate about inspiring Middle and Upper School students to learn and create. Primary responsibilities include teaching Innovation/STEAM and Coding/Programming courses in grades 7-12, leading the Middle and Upper School Robotics clubs, fostering the use of the Innovation Lab, and supporting faculty in integrating technology.
Job Responsibilities:
- Teach both Middle and Upper School courses that:
- Incorporate computer science principles to enhance and extend classroom learning and curricular projects
- Facilitate hands-on learning experiences incorporating various tools and technologies, such as 3D printers, laser cutters and electronics
- Guide students through the design thinking process to conceptualize, prototype, and refine their ideas
- Offer Middle and Upper School activities on STEAM/innovation related topics such as making, coding, 3-D printing, electronics, and artificial intelligence
- Coordinate and foster the use of the Middle and Upper School Innovation Lab
- Oversee the Middle and Upper School Robotics teams
- Collaborate with faculty to plan the integration of the STEAM program throughout the Middle and Upper Schools
- Provide support and training to faculty in the use of software and technology related to teaching and learning
- Organize and facilitate workshops and events annually or bi-annually at the School or in the community that promote maker culture and creativity

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
- Three years of teaching experience in Middle or Upper School education
- Experience in computer science including robotics, engineering, and programming languages

Technical Competencies:
All candidates for teaching positions should be familiar with learning management systems such as Seesaw and Google Classroom and have the ability to create and deliver engaging multimedia content using a variety of digital tools. Key is a Google Workspace for Education school. Candidates should be proficient in using Google applications, have a solid understanding of cloud-based storage and file-sharing platforms, and efficiently manage email and scheduling using Gmail and Google Calendar. They should be proficient in virtual communication tools such as Zoom or Google meet and have basic troubleshooting skills to resolve common technical issues that may arise in the classroom.
Work Schedule/Travel:
Occasionally, there may be business and school functions that will require your presence to work flexible hours, including nights and/or weekends and travel outside of Annapolis.
