We invite applications from outstanding candidates for faculty of Instruction to address our growing demand for software engineering education. This faculty position will be appointed in the Department of Computer Science and will begin September 2023.  The position will support multiple programs including the Masters in AI, MBAi (an AI focused MBA program), and the Computer Science department more generally.

Applicants should have extensive first-hand experience planning and delivering software engineering projects in an industry setting.  A passion for the subject and teaching is essential.  A Ph.D. is preferred but not required.

We seek experienced professionals who can help us define a vision for what a software engineer, technical product manager, CIO, or CTO should be in the age of cloud and AI.  The successful applicant will develop and teach courses that are focused less on introductory coding skills and more on the discipline of software engineering and the software development lifecycle with an eye towards preparing students for the above roles.  Their courses will provide students with the opportunities to participate in software engineering efforts as a team and all that entails, rather than conduct solitary coding exercises.

Candidates will be considered at the Assistant, Associate, or Full level depending on experience. 

Faculty of Instruction typically teach two courses per term and are involved in advising students and curriculum development. Candidates are asked to submit a cover letter and a curriculum vitae, a teaching statement, a diversity statement, and contact information for three references who can speak to the candidate’s software engineering experience in industry as well as any teaching, training or mentoring experience. The teaching statement should include a description of how your industry experience will inform your teaching approach. Candidates are also encouraged to supply recent teaching evaluations and a teaching demonstration video if available. Applications received by March 10, 2023 will be given full consideration.
